Can a doctor tell if I have osteoporosis from a normal x-ray?

I broke my ankle tripping. I have to get more x-rays done wednesday to see how bad the break is. Is there anyway for the doctor to tell from the x-ray or do I need a special test for osteoporosis?

I have osteoporosis and I am only 31. The best way to tell is a bone density test and then a bone scan can show if you have any other little fractures. I do know that they saw ostopinia in my wrist from an x ray but not the best method….ask for a bone density. Good luck :)

Depends on the severity, but yes its possible to see it. To be sure, they will do a DEXA scan (which is a bone density scan).
